本周我们来学习与极限运动相关的词汇

1. adrenaline/ə'drenəlin,-li:n/

n.肾上腺素

搭配:an adrenaline rush 使人肾上腺素飙升

get adrenaline going 使人肾上腺素飙升

an adrenaline junkie 喜欢极限运动/热爱冒险的人

e.g. Skydiving gave me such an adrenaline rush.

e.g. It was a thrilling experience that really got our adrenaline going.

e.g. He’s really an adrenaline junkie, always trying new extreme sports.

补充:skydiving n. 跳伞

thrilling adj. 刺激的;令人兴奋的

2. thrill /ˈθrɪl/

n. 激动;兴奋;令人激动的事情

e.g. Driving a race car is a real thrill for me.

e.g. Some people get a thrill out of skydiving.

搭配:thrill-seekers 寻求刺激/喜欢冒险的人

e.g. Many thrill seekers go bungee jumping, skydiving, and other extreme sports.

补充:bungee jumping 蹦极

adj. thrilled 非常兴奋与激动的。

e.g. She wasthrilled to pieceswhen she received her birthday gift.

adj. thrilling 令人激动的

e.g. The skydiving experience was absolutely thrilling; I’ve never felt such excitement before.

3. reckless /'reklɪs/

adj. 轻率的;不计后果的;无所顾忌的

e.g. Reckless thrill seekers disregard their safety, only focusing on experiencing the adrenaline rush.

e.g. A life of overconfidence is reckless and short-sighted.

4. envelope /'envələʊp/

搭配:push the envelope挑战限制尺度;突破原有底线

e.g. The racer is always pushing the envelope in every race, constantly surpassing the limits.

e.g. We can think out of the box and come up with something quite different. We have to push the envelope if we want to succeed in the market.

5. helmet/'helmɪt/

n. 头盔

e.g. It's very risky to ride your bike without wearing a cycle helmet.

e.g. Make sure to wear a helmet when you go skiing to protect your head from injury if you fall.
