The Museum Bezau intertwines the past with the present. The historic, heritage-listed building is an outstanding exhibit on its own – a showpiece that immerses the visitor in the local building culture and its close connection between architecture and craftmanship. The extension ties in with the history and takes it further in its own language. With the continuation, the traditional order of the Bregenzerwald house with its front and rear building sections is restored.

Spanning three floors, the extension provides additional space for contemporary museum functions. As a new addition to the permanent collection displayed in the historic section, it accommodates visitor reception, small events and a variety of exhibits. The interior arrangement is characterized by horizontally and vertically interlocking spaces, interweaving the Old and New to create a new whole that can be experienced spatially and conceptually. Between dark and light, high and low, narrow and wide, a diverse spatial experience is made possible, enriching the exhibition layout with a further layer of depth.

扩建部分跨越三层，为当代博物馆的功能提供了额外的空间。作为历史区永久收藏的新成员，它可容纳游客接待、小型活动和各种展览。室内布局的特点是水平和垂直的空间连锁，新旧交织，创造出一个可以在空间和概念上体验的新整体。明与暗、高与低、窄与宽之间，形成多样化的空间体验，使展览布局更加丰富、更有深度。

In keeping with the local Baroque builder’s tradition, the planning and execution involved a close collaboration between architecture and craftsmanship. A contemporary, prefabricated timber construction completes the historic loc construction, while the differentiated façade design refers to the unique nature of its use. Inside, whitewashed wood paneling on the walls, solid spruce floorboards and ash furniture create a simple but atmospheric setting for the wide range of historical exhibits. The captivating dialog between Old and New creates a meaningful ensemble.

The new extension complements the historic building and innovates on the basis of continuing the traditional style. Its architectural form may use modern design language, with simple lines and unique geometric shapes, which contrast and echo with the old building. In terms of material selection, bricks, stones or wood that are coordinated with the old building may be used, while adding some modern elements, such as large areas of glass curtain walls, which not only increase the transparency of the building, but also bring in sufficient natural light into the room. The height and volume of the extension are adapted to the old building, cleverly integrated into the overall environment, and restore the order of the front and back building parts of the traditional Bregenz Forest house, showing the harmonious coexistence of history and modernity.

新扩建的部分与历史建筑相得益彰，在延续传统风格的基础上进行了创新。其建筑形式或许运用了现代的设计语言，通过简洁的线条和独特的几何形状，与老建筑形成对比又相互呼应。在材料选择上，可能使用了与老建筑相协调的砖石或木材，同时加入了一些现代感的元素，如大面积的玻璃幕墙，既增加了建筑的通透感，又为室内引入充足的自然光线。扩建部分的高度和体量与老建筑相适配，巧妙地融入整体环境，恢复了传统布雷根茨森林房屋前后建筑部分的秩序，展现出历史与现代的和谐共生。

The extension spans three floors, providing the museum with more space for contemporary museum functions. The interior space layout is ingenious, with the space design interlaced horizontally and vertically, weaving the new and old parts closely together to form a whole that can be deeply experienced in space and concept. Different floors and areas are cleverly connected by spatial elements such as stairs and corridors, guiding visitors to feel the changes and levels of space during the visit.

扩建部分横跨三层，为博物馆提供了更多用于当代博物馆功能的空间。内部空间布局独具匠心，通过水平和垂直方向相互交错的空间设计，将新旧部分紧密编织在一起，形成一个可在空间和概念上深度体验的整体。不同楼层和区域之间，通过楼梯、走廊等空间元素巧妙连接，引导游客在参观过程中感受空间的变化与层次。

In order to adapt to the diverse exhibition needs, the interior space is designed with a flexible and changeable display system, which may include movable display boards and display racks, so as to facilitate adjustment according to different exhibition themes. In terms of decorative details, some original elements of the old building may be retained, such as ancient doors, windows, fireplaces, etc., which become part of the interior decoration after restoration and protection, and together with the new decorative elements, form a unique spatial texture. These historical elements complement modern display facilities and works of art, creating a dialogue across time and space, so that visitors can not only appreciate the rich exhibits during the visit, but also deeply feel the beauty of the fusion of history and modernity.

为了适应多样化的展览需求，室内空间设计了灵活多变的展示系统，可能包括可移动的展板、展架等，方便根据不同展览主题进行调整。在装饰细节上，可能保留了一些老建筑的原始元素，如古老的门窗、壁炉等，经过修复和保护后成为室内装饰的一部分，与新的装饰元素共同构成了独特的空间质感。这些历史元素与现代的展示设施和艺术作品相互映衬，创造出一种跨越时空的对话，使游客在参观过程中不仅能够欣赏到丰富的展品，还能深刻感受到历史与现代的交融之美。
