3月24日，青海野生动物救护繁育中心张贴公告称，3月14日凌晨，兔狲 （Pallas's cat）“狲尚香”因急性十二指肠溃疡穿孔去世。
The Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center issued a statement on Monday reporting the passing of a female Pallas's cat named Sun Shangxiang in the early hours of Mar 14 due to acute duodenal ulcer perforation.
据了解，“狲尚香”是一只雌性兔狲，2019年于西宁市大通县救护。3月初，工作人员发现它食欲不佳，为其调整饮食结构，并通过添加益生菌改善其消化状况，情况好转后又反复。
3月11日中午，工作人员发现“狲尚香”精神萎靡、食欲废绝，经血常规及腹部彩超检查，发现白细胞增多伴有腹水，经李凡他实验检查，初步诊断为细菌性腹膜炎，输液治疗三天，3月14日凌晨死亡。
On Mar 11 at noon, staff members observed that Sun Shangxiang was lethargic and had lost her appetite. Blood tests and abdominal ultrasound examinations indicated an elevated white blood cell count and the presence of ascites. Initially diagnosed with bacterial peritonitis, she received intravenous fluid treatment for three days. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her illness in the early morning of Mar 14.
临床剖检发现，“狲尚香”十二指肠部有一处直径2mm穿孔，结合中国农业大学动物医学院病理化验结果，确认死亡原因为急性十二指肠溃疡穿孔。
不少网友注意到，其“配偶”狲思邈、“女儿”狲大娘，此前均已离世。
2022年10月10日，西宁野生动物园曾发“讣告”称，中国唯一一只圈养雄性兔狲——“狲思邈”在进食时因鸡肉卡喉，不幸窒息死亡，终年7岁半。
China's only captive male Pallas's cat, Sun Simiao, died at the age of seven and a half after choking on chicken while eating, according to an obituary released on Oct 10, 2022 by Xining Wildlife Park, where Sun Simiao used to live while alive.
2024年3月18日，西宁野生动物园发布消息称，兔狲“长公主狲大娘”于2024年3月17日因病死亡，初步诊断为子宫蓄脓。
兔狲繁育难题曾困扰全世界数十年， 随着几只“网红”兔狲的离世，兔狲的养育问题，再度引发关注——
据悉，兔狲是猫科兔狲属的唯一动物，系国家二级重点保护野生动物，“狲思邈”所属的高原亚种主要在青藏高原及其周边地区生活。
在我国，唯一能看到兔狲的动物园便是西宁野生动物园，兔狲是这里的明星动物，但鲜有人知的是，兔狲繁育难题曾困扰全世界数十年。
The Pallas's cat, the only species in the Otocolobus genus within the Felidae family, is designated as a second-level protected wild animal in China. The Xining Wildlife Park is the sole zoo in the country where visitors can observe Pallas's cats. 曾任西宁野生动物园副园长，被网友称为“网红园长”的齐新章介绍，一般野生的兔狲可以活到6岁至10岁，动物园饲养的可以活到10岁以上，一些老弱病残个体在野外生存困难，西宁野生动物园会对它们进行救护，救护之后的首选是放归野外，但是没有能力在野外生存的困难个体，就只能留在动物园。
作为国内唯一饲养并展示兔狲的动物园，西宁野生动物园中饲养的兔狲：
狲思邈（雄性），2015年救护的幼崽，狲大娘的父亲；（已死亡）
狲尚香（雌性），2019年救护的幼崽，狲大娘的母亲；（已死亡）
狲小满（雌性），2014年救护的幼崽，为园区年龄最大的一只兔狲；
狲小妹（雌性），2015年救护的幼崽，狲思邈的双胞胎妹妹，狲大娘的姑姑；
狲大娘（雌性），2021年人工繁育兔狲，中国第一只人工繁育成活的兔狲，狲思邈和狲尚香的女儿（已死亡）
狲三郎（雄性）2022年人工繁育兔狲，爸爸是狲思邈。
彼时，在狲思邈的“讣告”中，有这样一段话：狲思邈用自己的一生，让无数人知道、了解、关注、关心兔狲这一物种，并在我国兔狲人工繁育研究的道路上，立下了不朽的丰碑。
