A United Airlines flight, UA198, originating from Los Angeles, was diverted to San Francisco International Airport approximately three hours after takeoff. The diversion occurred because the captain reportedly forgot to bring his passport. The aircraft landed safely, and passengers were delayed at the airport for several hours before reboarding.

关于此次返航备降的原因，乘坐该客机的于先生告诉极目新闻记者，是因为“机长没带护照”，才选择折返。目前飞机已在旧金山降落，乘客在机场滞留数小时后，现已登机。
于先生回忆当时的情景说道：“当时飞机广播说道‘forget passport’，并用中文重复一遍称，由于机长没带护照，所以需要在旧金山降落。”
于先生表示，飞机降落旧金山后，航司为每人发了一张30美元的餐券。随后，乘客们滞留在机场约3个小时。
此外，于先生还提到，飞机上有位乘客本来就是从旧金山去洛杉矶转机，没想到现在又回来了。飞机安全降落后语音播报“Welcome to San Francisco”时，机上所有人都笑了。

22日当天，该客机还执飞过从纽约飞往洛杉矶的航班。而23日的下一趟航班，即上海飞往洛杉矶的航班已显示延误。
The unexpected return journey resulted in a six-hour delay, impacting the original schedule. The flight, initially scheduled to land in Shanghai by Sunday evening, was postponed to early Monday morning. The latest information indicates that the plane has since resumed its journey. However, the subsequent flight from Shanghai to Los Angeles has been marked as delayed.
