话说1971年，楚原拍了一部叫《爱奴》的电影，砸了42万港元进去，结果票房才58万，妥妥的赔本买卖。
邵氏一看这架势，差点就要把他扫地出门了。

1973年，他瞅准了古龙的《流星蝴蝶剑》，拿着自己画的“雨中竹林对决”分镜图，硬是说服了邵氏的高层。
结果，这部电影只花了83万，却赚回了216万！
这下，楚原算是扬眉吐气了。
到了1976年，楚原又放了个大招——《天涯明月刀》。
片子里45秒的空中打斗戏，那叫一个精彩，看得观众直呼过瘾。
据说，还有不少人为了再看这段打戏，又买了一张电影票。
这商业头脑，啧啧，真是让人佩服。
不过，楚原最厉害的操作，还是在1976年跟邵氏签的那份分成协议。
除了正常的导演费，他还能拿到电影净利润的3.5%。
就凭这条，楚原赚得比其他导演都多。
李翰祥、张彻这些大导演，片酬也就几万块，而楚原呢，除了片酬，还有分成，这差距可不是一星半点。
所以，从1968年到1985年，楚原在香港买了四套房，总价870万港元。
就说1979年买的罗便臣道那套，现在估计值2.3亿！
这可不是一般人能做到的。
当然，楚原的成功也离不开他老婆南红。
南红年轻的时候也是个演员，收入比老师还高。
但她嫁给楚原之后，就退居幕后，帮楚原打理工作室，一个月只拿280块工资。
这贤内助，真是没话说。
在邵氏拍电影，那可不是一件轻松的事。
导演每天工作14个小时是常态，剧本还得一层层审批。
楚原就因为拒绝在《楚留香》续集里给邵氏的化妆品打广告，预算就被砍了27%。
邵氏电影产量高，但很多电影都一个套路。
据说，1976年到1985年，香港武侠片有61%都是互相抄来抄去的。
楚原的18部古龙电影，有11部都是在邵氏的清水湾片场拍的，就跟流水线作业似的。
这种高压的生产模式，也导致了一些问题。
1988年，邵氏的片库着火了，很多电影的底片都被烧毁了，包括楚原的《天涯明月刀》。
现在，楚原的电影只有43%是完整的。
2019年，香港国际电影节办了个楚原电影回顾展，修复版的《爱奴》只有287个人去看。
同期的漫威电影《复仇者联盟4》，一天就有超过1.2万人观看。
这差距，真是让人唏嘘。
楚原的故事，就像一部香港武侠电影，有起有落，有高潮也有低谷。
但他最终凭借自己的智慧和努力，成为了一个时代的传奇。
时代的车轮滚滚向前。
