霍启刚表示，港队遇袭的运动员受了轻伤，他们的身体健康“只能说还可以”，但仍然参与到了昨晚的比赛当中。作为团长，霍启刚对中国香港冰球队的表现感到非常骄傲。

在10日晚的比赛中，现场观众一直为港队助威鼓劲，场馆内声浪不断，港队球员也在进球后忘我地与现场观众互动。事实上，在港队遭遇袭击事件后，大量现场观众，以及内地与香港的网民都十分关心受伤队员的伤势，并留言支持港队。
After the incident, a significant number of on-site spectators and netizens from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong expressed concern for the injured athletes and sent messages of support to the team.
霍启刚也有留意到相关的情况，“我看到现场那么多内地同胞都为我们中国香港队而欢呼，我是非常非常感动。希望大家可以关注港队的赛场表现，往前看。”
"I was deeply moved to see many mainland compatriots cheering for our team at the event. I hope everyone can look forward and focus on the team's performance on the field," Fok said.
据了解，国际冰球总会10日裁定四名涉事的土库曼斯坦球员蓄意施袭，他们已被即时停赛，不能参与亚冬会余下赛事。霍启刚指出，中国香港队尊重并接受国际冰球总会的决定，希望事件过去之后，在接下来的比赛中各队依然能够秉持体育精神，互相尊重、保持友谊。

Four Turkmenistan ice hockey players have been suspended for assaulting and injuring three Hong Kong players after the teams' match at the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang province. The punishment was made by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) announced on Monday.

香港“01”网站报道称，港队队员在赛后握手时遭对方袭击。另据《星岛日报》报道，冲突持续了1分钟左右，有港队队员被打至头盔飞脱倒地，还有球员在倒地后仍遭到殴打。
Video footage showed that during the postgame handshakes, several Turkmenistan players attacked members of the Hong Kong, China team, causing them to fall to the ground and lose their helmets. The altercation lasted about one minute, before the referee intervened and issued misconduct-game penalties to three Turkmenistan players. Three Hong Kong players were treated for their injuries and released, with one requiring stitches for a hand injury. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, who is in Harbin, visited the injured players on Monday morning. He praised them for remaining calm and restrained during the incident, upholding their professionalism and sportsmanship.
《星岛日报》报道称，中国香港体育协会暨奥林匹克委员会（以下简称“港协暨奥委会”）10日表示，接到国际冰球总会通知，就土库曼斯坦运动员蓄意袭击港队，导致港队运动员受伤的事件作出裁决，4名土库曼斯坦运动员被即时停赛，将不能参与亚冬会其余赛事。对此，中国香港代表团表示欢迎国际冰球总会迅速回应、公平处理事件。
身兼代表团团长的港协暨奥委会副会长霍启刚表示，经医疗团队详细检查，确认港队男子冰球3位运动员在事件中受伤，所幸是轻伤，其中一人手部需缝针，经治疗后3人均无大碍。10日晚，中国香港队如期出战对吉尔吉斯斯坦的八强赛事。
