医生和专业医务工作是世界上最神圣、最崇高的职业。由于职业的特殊性，每个医生都需要良好的道德品质、严格的职业操守、以及敬业的工作精神。为此，世界医学学会（WMA）成立了一个研究委员会，负责并撰写了一份“医学职业章程”，世界医学学会以此给全世界的医学生在获得学位时用来宣誓。作为神圣的医务工作者必须终身铭记誓言，不忘初心，在道德和利益之间，永不迷航，用金子般的心真正照亮人生的道路。
世界医学名校、澳大利亚昆士兰大学仅它一所学校就产生了两位诺贝尔生理学和医学奖的获得者（Peter C. Doherty 和 Barry James Marshall）。在医学研究方面，昆士兰大学更是走在世界前沿。如世界上首个预防宫颈癌的疫苗也是由昆士兰大学医学院的教授伊恩弗雷泽Ian Frazer和已故华人科学家周健博士一起研发出来的。这种疫苗现已在超过130多个国家使用，挽救了世界上几千万妇女的生命。

作为一名医学工作者：
- 我郑重宣誓，我将终生致力于为人类服务；
- 我将患者的健康与幸福作为我的首要顾念；
- 我将尊重患者的自主权与尊严；
- 我将保持对人类生命的最高敬意；
- 我将不容许有年龄、疾病或残疾、信仰、民族、性别、国籍、政治党派、种族、性取向、社会地位或其他任何因素的考虑，介于我的职责与患者之间；
- 我将尊重所寄托给我的秘密，即使患者已经离世；
- 我将在医学实践中保持良知与尊严，遵从正确的医学规范；
- 我将维护医疗职业的荣誉和高尚的传统；
- 我将尊重及感戴我的师长、同事与学生；
- 我将为患者的利益和医疗卫生事业的进步，分享我的医学知识；
- 我将关注自身健康、幸福与能力，提供最高标准的照护服务；

AS A MEMBER OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION:
- I SOLEMNLY PLEDGE to dedicate my life to the service of humanity;
- THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF MY PATIENT will be my first consideration;
- I WILL RESPECT the autonomy and dignity of my patient;
- I WILL MAINTAIN the utmost respect for human life;
- I WILL NOT PERMIT considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient;
- I WILL RESPECT the secrets that are confided in me, even after the patient has died;
- I WILL PRACTICE my profession with conscience and dignity and in accordance with good medical practice;
- I WILL FOSTER the honour and noble traditions of the medical profession;
